Hey Love, bring on your sunny glow!…

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get swept up in the constant hustle and noise. But amidst all the chaos, embracing stillness can be the key to finding some clarity.

When we allow ourselves a moment to pause and think things over, we create space for deeper understanding, insight, and peace.  It takes time to get in touch with your emotions, to understand what it takes to be you and to embrace stillness.

The Learning Curve

One of the things I learned to do, and I am now at the stage where I can sit quiet while my mind is racing and the turmoil is real in my chest. Someone in my life introduced me to meditation, and this person had the magic touch to quiet my mind. It felt almost as if a powerful, calm presence was always redirecting me to peace. I didn’t gain much from meditation at first, but when I was struggling to find my footing during difficult times, I turned to meditation, then yoga, and later tai chi, and that’s when I truly learned a lot. This quiet time not only helped me regain focus but also opened the door to fresh ideas and a meaningful direction in life.

In my quiet time, I wrote this short poem to add a little spice to the silence.

Some events in life require you to stay still

Time is a great teacher, it teaches patience

Attitude is a constant effort into improving yourself

Your perspective can change your attitude

Silence is golden to help you sort out your feelings

Truth is, your growth depends on this process

Introspection helps you identify your strengths and weaknesses

Lack of patience will only hold you back

Letting go is crucial in order to remain still

“You have the answer. Just get quiet enough to hear it.” ~  Pat Obuchowski

Let’s explore how stillness became a powerful tool for me.

Though I wasn’t at ease that day, this specific photo of me in the kayak gives that impression. At one point, I became quite nervous and couldn’t sit still; my fear, aided by my imagination, got the best of me. Often, you don’t know how much your emotions might trigger your limiting beliefs until you reach a dead end. The beauty of owning up to your mistakes, in my opinion, is that you realize that teaching—or remediation, depending on the situation—comes next. In the end, you will need to do some work, either now or shortly, sooner rather than later, or possibly later than anticipated. I think you get the idea.

Since I was prepared to learn the assignment, how to stay still, the task went by without too much hassle even if, to be honest, it was not always easy. At times, it was really hard and painful. I also gained a deeper sense on how to promote peace throughout that time in my life. My energy started to become more adaptable, so I was actually starting to prioritize myself.

“Never miss a good chance to shut up.” ~  Will Rogers

Even if there may not have been much glamour in some of your former experiences, and you may still feel under the weather in that regard, it can only be beneficial to plant the lessons learned in your garden. What else are you meant to do with the memories if not? I think I’ve asked myself this question hundreds of times, and I’ve never been able to come up with a better response.

However, certain feelings are inescapable; they weigh heavily on your mind; many dreams remain dreams, and you’re left wondering what happened (Life happens!); and we still wake up in chaos at times and fall back into being still.

Final Thoughts

In the midst of a busy life, stillness offers a powerful opportunity to find clarity. It’s important to take time to pause and reflect, to allow your mind to quiet down, and to silence the noise. By doing so, it helps you gain deeper insights and a fresh perspective. Achieving stillness is not an easy task. However, it helps clear mental clutter, leading to more focused decisions and a stronger sense of purpose.
