Where Is Your Ambition In A World of Conflicting Priorities!

Hey Love, bring on your sunny glow!…

If you ever find yourself questioning where your ambition, or that of your children, is, especially if they lack motivation, I can tell you that you are reading the right article today. I also recommend reading the relevant article titled “Your ambition isn’t decreasing when your priorities change.” This article, authored by Julia Korn and published by Forbes, provides valuable perspective on the topic. One insightful excerpt from the article, that highlights the central theme discussed, states: “What’s required is a change in the global conversation around how we define and discuss ambition. When our priorities shift, our ambition isn’t downshifting. Rather, our ambition becomes more aligned with our values.”

Ambition and Motivation

Ambition, or the persistent pursuit of objectives, has a significant influence on contemporary society and way of life. It serves as an inducer for innovation, advancement, and self-improvement. In today’s world, ambition can take many different forms and affect people, groups, and civilizations in many ways. It could involve advancements in society, the workplace, finances, personal development, and more.

It’s important to realize that people frequently experience fluctuations in their motivation, shifting between periods of high and low drive. However, fostering a good dose of ambition can lead to development, contentment, and societal contribution; also, removing obstacles to ambition, such as a lack of resources or assistance, fear of failure, can assist individuals in reaching their full potential.

“Ambition has one heel nailed in well, though she stretch her fingers to touch the heavens.” ~ Lao Tzu

My Outlook

As a full-time working woman, wearing many hats and mother of a young active entrepreneur, I finally was able to look at ambition with new eyes; fresh new eyes that delivered the real meaning of ambition. Every time, I had to adjust my path, or rearrange my set of goals, my ambition never downshifted, my ambition was just aligning with my values that kept me on course. My ambition was never tied to a job, a person, or a set of chores; it was always moving along my values and interests.

If we look at ambition as the dynamic force it is, we can understand why it evolves with our changing priorities. Ambition should encompass any path or set of goals. Instead of shrinking yourself in order for people to understand your choices, you need to understand that you may be only re-directing your ambition into activities that align with your true interests. Once you understand that, you will be able to move in harmony with your ambition.

Final Thoughts

Life is full of twists, and as we grow, so do our aspirations. What we once chased might not hold the same meaning, but that doesn’t mean we’ve lost our ambition. Instead, it often evolves, reshaping into something more aligned with who we’re becoming. Adapting to change doesn’t mean giving up; it means refining our focus and honoring new priorities. With every shift, we’re given the chance to refuel our motivation, explore fresh paths, and uncover new strengths. When you’re asked where your ambition went, remember—it’s right here, simply taking on a new direction.

Wondering where your drive went? Next time that question pops up, just remember… you might be in the process of finding it again as your priorities shift!
